Founder Conversations: Why Stories of Business Is Launching a New Series

Every business has a story, but not every business story explains how the business actually works.

That is why we are launching Founder Conversations, a new series from Stories of Business that explores the systems behind entrepreneurship through relaxed conversations with founders, business owners and leaders from around the world.

Our goal is not to create promotional interviews or polished success stories. We want to understand what happens beneath the surface of a business. Every organisation is built on decisions, trade-offs, processes, relationships and countless small moments that rarely appear on a company website. Founder Conversations are designed to bring those hidden layers into view.

When people look at a coffee shop, they see coffee. A founder sees suppliers, logistics, equipment, staffing, customer behaviour, pricing, rent and daily operations. When people see a transport company, they see vehicles. A founder sees scheduling, maintenance, regulations, trust, accessibility and the challenge of delivering a reliable service every day. Every business has visible products, but invisible systems.

That is the conversation we want to have.

We believe founders are among the best people to explain how businesses really function because they have lived through the uncertainty of creating something from nothing. They understand the difficult decisions, unexpected setbacks, customer feedback, operational pressures and constant adaptation that shape every organisation.

These conversations are not about celebrating success for its own sake. They are about learning. We want to understand how businesses solve problems, how industries evolve, how communities are served and how entrepreneurs navigate increasingly complex economic environments.

This series also reflects the wider mission of Stories of Business. Our platform has always explored the systems behind everyday life, from infrastructure and logistics to manufacturing, agriculture, retail, technology and public services. Founder Conversations take that same approach but through the people building and running organisations every day.

We are just as interested in a local family business as we are in an international company. Great business insights do not only come from household names. They come from founders solving real problems, serving customers and creating value within their communities.

Each conversation is intended to go beyond the company profile. We will explore how businesses start, how they grow, where they struggle, how they adapt to change, what they have learned and where they believe their industries are heading. Along the way, we hope to uncover practical insights that benefit entrepreneurs, students, policymakers, professionals and anyone curious about how business really works.

For Stories of Business, Founder Conversations are more than interviews. They are another way of documenting the systems that shape our economies and communities through the voices of the people living them every day.

If you are a founder, business owner or organisational leader with an interesting story to tell, we would love to hear from you. We are particularly interested in conversations that help explain industries, reveal hidden systems and share practical lessons from building organisations.

You can watch our latest Founder Conversations on our YouTube channel and explore more business stories across the Stories of Business platform.
